Cherokee Core Stretch 4315 combines cotton, polyester and spandex. Dickies 86306 uses cotton and polyester without a listed spandex component. Landau Essentials and Cherokee Originals offer another polyester-cotton proportion. Those distinctions are more informative than a broad cotton label.
Fiber percentage alone cannot predict shrinkage, softness or breathability in a finished jacket. Construction and finishing also matter. Follow the exact care label, and check the jacket after laundering before deciding on permanent alterations.
Three composition choices represented here
Cherokee Originals 4350 and the Landau Essentials jackets use 65% polyester/35% cotton. Cherokee Professionals WW340 uses 63% polyester/34% cotton/3% spandex in its body fabric. Core Stretch 4315 instead lists 55% cotton/42% polyester/3% spandex. These labels establish different fiber proportions, not an ordered scale of softness or coolness.
Dickies 86306 lists a 55% cotton/45% polyester brushed poplin. Brushed describes a surface treatment; it should not be silently replaced by fleece in a shopping filter. A comparison with DK305 changes both composition and cut, so the specific comparison addresses the whole garment rather than attributing every difference to cotton.
Choose a garment you can care for as labeled
Cotton content alone cannot supply the correct wash temperature, bleach permission or expected dimensional change. Body fabric, cuffs, fasteners and decoration form one garment, and the care instruction applies to that complete item. If a jacket changes size after laundering, record the same garment measurement points before deciding what happened. Do not use hot washing to shrink a new jacket into a preferred fit.
