Ask what the shell adds to your day
Choose the 8609 for a reason you can name: a short walk between buildings, a preference for its outer surface, or the ability to adjust the sleeves at the wrist. If you only want fleece while sitting at a desk, the 8309 deserves a comparison. Neither construction should be assigned an invented warmth score. Our assessment is that the shell is a specific buying feature, not an automatic upgrade for everyone who wears scrubs.
Test the collar and cuffs together
The jacket closes high at the neck and includes a chin guard. Try it fully fastened while looking down and turning your head, particularly if your scrub top has a higher neckline of its own. Adjust the cuffs over your normal layers, then reach forward. The published medium length is 29.5 inches. Compare that measurement with a garment you already like rather than importing the women’s softshell’s separate front and back numbers.
Choose which pockets need closure
Two front pockets close with zippers and two load from the top. Put the items that need closure into your plan first; leave quick-access supplies for the open compartments. The shoulder badge loop and rear locker loop serve different purposes and should not be counted as additional pockets. If carrying a larger device is the main requirement, compare the Boundless 8351’s interior tablet pocket, with dimensions checked against the device. More shell structure cannot solve an incompatible storage layout.
