The adjustable waist is the useful difference
The Brooks specification includes a bungee cord at the waist, a curved back yoke and side vents. Healing Hands lists a contoured fit and a 26-inch center-back length. The waist adjustment gives you another way to change the silhouette after choosing a size, which may appeal if you dislike a completely straight jacket body.
Start a try-on with the adjustment relaxed. Check shoulder and chest room first, then tighten the waist only as much as feels comfortable. A drawcord changes the body shape; it cannot fix sleeves that are too short or shoulders that bind when you reach.
Storage above and below the waist
Brooks has four listed pockets: a chest flap pocket, two angled side pockets and an internal cell-phone pocket. The front closes with a zipper and the neckline has a stand collar. Compared with an all-hip pocket arrangement, the chest location creates another storage choice. Whether that is useful depends on what you carry and how you wear your badge.
If you already hang an ID or other permitted item at chest level, check that the arrangement does not become crowded. A labeled phone pocket is also not a universal fit guarantee. Test with your actual device and case before making it the designated place for your phone.
Brooks, Carly or a simpler warm-up?
The official fabric blend combines polyester, rayon, spandex and lyocell in a four-way stretch twill. We would shortlist Brooks for waist adjustment and its distributed pocket arrangement. Carly is the more direct alternative when zippered outside pockets are the deciding factor. Daisy deserves a look if you would rather have a traditional snap opening and longer published coverage.
This is a comparison of documented construction, not a wear-test ranking. Resist choosing solely by the word “utility”: think about your actual load and preferred shape. Before removing the tags, sit with the waist adjusted, reach forward and check the jacket with its intended pocket contents. If you need to loosen the cord repeatedly, leave it relaxed or choose a less shaped cut.
