Choose the shoulder fit before adjusting the waist
Austin's bungee waist allows the body outline to change, while the manufacturer lists a curved back yoke and side vents. Its center-back reference length is 28.5 inches. That combination is worth considering if you want a longer jacket body with an adjustable shape instead of a fixed bomber hem.
Begin with the waist loose, and check the jacket over a scrub top in your usual size. Reach forward to assess the upper back. Only then adjust the waist. Tightening the middle of an oversized jacket does not fix oversized shoulders, and loosening it cannot add room where an armhole is too restrictive.
Chest storage distinguishes the utility layout
The four-pocket arrangement consists of a chest flap pocket with a D-ring, two front welt pockets and an internal phone pocket. A stand collar sits above the zip opening. The fabric specification is a polyester, rayon, spandex and lyocell blend in four-way stretch twill. These are documented design features; our assessment does not include a load or abrasion test.
The practical question is whether you will use the chest position. Put frequently needed small belongings where you can reach them without disturbing your badge. Test the internal phone pocket with your actual case and check whether the added weight pulls the jacket to one side.
Austin or Samuel for your routine?
Samuel is the more relevant comparison if you want closed outside pockets, extra internal storage and a ribbed bomber hem. Austin offers a different carry arrangement and waist adjustment. Neither a larger total nor the word “utility” establishes a better jacket for every wearer; a pocket that is awkwardly placed has little value even when it raises the count.
Before keeping Austin, sit with it zipped and with the waist set as you intend to wear it. Check the hem over your scrub top and the chest pocket with your normal badge setup. Follow the exact garment care label, and verify that your selected color works with the uniform pieces you already own.
